Happy new year and warm wishes from Inhealthcare! I hope you had a wonderful holiday season and a well-deserved rest. As we embark on a promising year ahead, I wanted to reflect on 2023, the highs and achievements accomplished with our NHS colleagues and the learnings we’ll take forward into 2024.
We ended the year on a high. In December we announced the roll out of virtual wards across Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds and Wakefield, supporting the delivery of safe and convenient care to people at home who would otherwise be in hospital. On a personal level, this contract is significant. I was born and bred in Leeds and I’m Yorkshire through and through, much like many of my team. To be making a difference to the lives of people in Yorkshire is something that I’m incredibly proud to be a part of. I look forward to hearing from patients how the services are making a real difference to lives.
We tapped into the private healthcare sector, delivering a subscription based type 2 diabetes service that combines physical consultations and virtual one to one support to help patients manage their condition more effectively. The number of people living with diabetes is staggering, with new figures from Diabetes UK topping five million for the first time. I believe this model of care can be scaled up to support people living with other long-term conditions and relieve pressure on NHS services.
Cardiovascular disease is top NHS priority and we were delighted to partner with Fibricheck, the medically certified app for heart health. Together, the collaboration aims to save lives, reduce health inequalities and ease pressure on the NHS through scaling up preventative checks.
In London, we rolled out a digital programme to support people living with severe mental illness, such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. Another significant achievement included the roll out of an oncology service in Dorset. Patients undergoing chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatment are piloting a new remote care service that monitors their progress and helps them manage their symptoms at home.
It’s been a busy year and I’m incredibly proud of my team for their hard work and dedication. Rolling out digital health services isn’t simple, but if my experience has taught me anything, it’s that the success of any project is all down to a great team.
As we look ahead to 2024, the future looks bright and we won’t be standing still. We will continue to invest in our technology to make sure it’s the best that it can be. Our entire user interface suite, the clinical portal and app is currently undergoing a redesign to make sure it’s as easy as possible to use for all. Our marketing team will be engaging you, our customers in this process to ensure it’s built with patients and users in mind. We have some exciting new wins that we’ll be announcing soon and patient stories that bring our services to life.
A big thank you to all our customers, partners and supporters. I hope 2024 brings success and I wish you all the best for the year ahead.
