Home is where the heart is – and now, through our remote monitoring technology, patients can have their heart rhythm checked from their own homes. The partnership between Inhealthcare and FibriCheck promises to transform how NHS organisations monitor atrial fibrillation, making it more accessible and efficient than ever before.

The growing challenge of atrial fibrillation

Atrial fibrillation (AF) affects approximately 1.5 million people in the UK, with numbers expected to rise. AF carries a five-fold increased risk of stroke and significant risk of heart failure. Early detection and monitoring are crucial, yet 40 per cent of AF patients present no symptoms, making traditional monitoring methods insufficient.

The Inhealthcare and FibriCheck solution

Inhealthcare and FibriCheck offer NHS organisations the ability to monitor patients’ heart health remotely across integrated care systems. The partnership combines Inhealthcare’s remote monitoring technology with FibriCheck’s medically certified smartphone app to accurately assess patients’ heart rhythm and heart rate, enabling patients to receive healthcare at home instead of in hospital.

Success in NHS implementation

FibriCheck has already demonstrated significant impact across several NHS trusts. At West Middlesex University Hospital and Chelsea & Westminster Hospital, FibriCheck’s technology enabled clinicians to support managing patients with chronic conditions from home, reducing average length of stay by four days per patient and saving approximately £1,000 per patient.

At Essex Cardiothoracic Centre, a nurse-led digital pathway provided patients with seven-day FibriCheck prescriptions before their three and 12-month post ablation check-ups. The programme monitored 147 patients, detecting AF recurrence in 39 (26.5 per cent) cases, while eliminating the need for an estimated 147 ECGs and 55 seven-day Holters. This generated net savings of £19,040 and freed up 73.5 outpatient clinic hours.

Benefits for NHS and patients

The partnership aims to deliver value across multiple dimensions:

For NHS organisations:
– Efficient patient triage
– Reduced unnecessary appointments
– Better resource allocation
– Cost-effective monitoring solutions

For patients:
– Monitoring from home
– Accurate and consistent assessment
– Earlier intervention when needed
– Improved access to care

Looking forward

Our partnership represents a significant opportunity for digital transformation within the NHS. By combining Inhealthcare’s remote monitoring expertise with FibriCheck’s proven technology, the solution addresses critical challenges in AF monitoring while promising to improve patient outcomes and healthcare system efficiency.

Home is where the heart is, and thanks to this partnership, it can become the frontline of heart rhythm monitoring.
