Last week in Westminster, we presented the case for accelerated digital health adoption directly to Parliament. Joining forces with Dedalus and The Patients Association, we engaged more than 20 cross-party MPs in a straightforward discussion about how these technologies are already transforming frontline care across the NHS.
At the event, we demonstrated some of the cutting-edge technologies leading this transformation, including our own remote patient monitoring services which are revolutionising how patients are cared for outside of traditional hospital settings. We also highlighted AI-driven tools including Patient Aide, ORBIS U and Clinalytix, essential technologies for the early detection of sepsis, delirium, AKI, pneumonia, and VTE, all of which are helping to improve patient outcomes.
It was fantastic to have Deirdre Costigan MP and Joe Morris MP, Parliamentary Private Secretaries to the Department of Health and Social Care, join us for this important conversation, as well as the support of Sadik Al-Hassan, Labour MP for North Somerset.
A big thank you to Mr Al-Hassan for sponsoring the event and for his continued support of digital health. We’re also grateful to all the MPs and peers who signed our joint letter, urging sustainable funding to scale these transformative technologies and accelerate the transition from analogue to digital healthcare.
We see the difference digital health is making to the frontline. These technologies improve patient outcomes while creating high-skilled jobs and export opportunities, supporting the government’s innovation and growth agenda.
However, without sustainable funding mechanisms, the UK risks losing its innovative digital health companies to markets like the US and Europe, where dedicated funding streams and supportive regulatory frameworks already exist. While we remain committed to clinically-led digital transformation with patients at its heart, building a healthcare system fit for the future depends on decisive government action now to secure appropriate funding for these transformative technologies – and for this we thank the parliamentarians for taking an interest and supporting our cause.
