Reducing hospital stays for children with cancer

Inhealthcare and Leeds Children’s Hospital have launched paediatric oncology virtual wards to support children with cancer.

The six live pathways include Acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, Acute myeloid leukaemia, post stem cell transplant, general, febrile neutropenia and immunotherapy.

The service facilitates increased monitoring of patients with acute issues or at higher risk of complications at home rather than in hospital.

The service includes a daily virtual review of patients using the easy to navigate Inhealthcare app.

Each service has a set of standard questions plus additional configurable options and questions can be tailored for each patient.

Feedback from families has been overwhelmingly positive. Many parents have said how the children are much happier at home, sleeping and eating better.  In a survey, 100% of respondents found the service useful and would recommend it to others.
